This is an edited image showing the cross referencing technique. I achieved this look by using a few tools and techniques.

1. I first started with the levels tool to distribute the image light more evenly on the image which made the image overall darker than the original.
2. The second tool I used was the curves tool in which changed the red, green and blue to the following settings.

3.I tried a two techniques for this step. one being the overlay and the other was copying the layer (Ctrl+J) then going to image adjustments and then chose the Hue and saturation tool. I then ticked the colorize option.   I set the colour to yellow and played around with the saturation.I then changed the blend mode to overlay. the overall effect looked a little more natural then the colour overlay.
